You have a background in the data field as a data or machine learning engineer and have experience leading a highly skilled team. You will oversee data-related activities and ensure alignment with the two business units and the scientists. On a day to day basis, you work within the data team where you work hands-on with other engineers and scientists.

The data engineers are responsible for the data enrichment pipeline, this pipeline uses Kafka and microservices deployed as containers in Kubernetes to deliver real-time transaction enrichments like categories and merchants. Furthermore, you will work with our data platform engineers on our data platform which consists of a number of AWS services like Sagemaker, Athena and QuickSight. The data platform is created with infrastructure as code and tailored to meet the security needs of Yolt. As a chapter lead, you work together with both the data engineers and data platform engineers who are also your direct reports. As we are still growing rapidly, you are key in the hire of new talent, their coaching and performance evaluation.

We ask from the candidate to also seek alignment outside Yolt to determine what external sources or products we can use to make better predictions and help our users to be even smarter with their money. Qualifications for Data Engineer

•  Elaborate experience with data governance in a flexible unstructured data environment
•  Advanced knowledge in data processing and storage
• Strong skills in software development within the data domain (Scala & Spark)
• Experience with using AWS , Kubernetes and Cassandra is a pré
• A master’s Degree or PhD in a computer science or statistics
• Skills to coach other data wizards
• Interest to stay up-to-date on relevant new developments
• Proficient English speaking and writing skills
• Good social and communication skills
• Experience in Agile / scrum

Our team

You’ll join a dedicated team of highly skilled data people where you will be serving both the Yolt app and YTS. The purpose of the team is to deliver the analytical capabilities, data models and enrichment pipeline of Yolt. The data team has data analysts, scientists and engineers working closely together in support of the two business units and in line with the data strategy. This team is responsible for building the analytical capabilities of Yolt app and YTS to support our users with useful insights and the business with comprehensive analysis about retention, churn and usage.
